There has been a lot of debate about who gets paid more, a man or a woman.
In Australia the Fair Work umpire has ruled pay discrimination is real. Over a lifetime, according to the Fair Work case, men will earn 50% more, on average, and a woman will accumulate half as much in retirement savings.
Add to this time spent raising children and the lifetime difference becomes enormous.
So what does this have to do with skincare?
There has been a lot of debate about who gets paid more, a man or a woman.
In Australia the Fair Work umpire has ruled pay discrimination is real. Over a lifetime, according to the Fair Work case, men will earn 50% more, on average, and a woman will accumulate half as much in retirement savings.
Much of this can be attributed to the type of careers women choose to follow with female dominated industries being paid, on average, 18% less. This is not to say a male will get paid more doing the same job. For example, in a nursing job both genders get paid exactly the same based on experience, rank and hours worked. It is the fact careers chosen by women tend to be paid less.
Add to this time spent raising children and the difference over a lifetime is enormous.
So what does this have to do with skin care?
I asked myself, what other difference is there in the workplace?
Men tend to work outdoors and in extreme environments more than women, even in these days of gender equality in jobs. Men tend to dominate on construction sites, as drivers, farmers, as window washers, and other jobs where they are exposed to wind, sun, and other aging factors.
While that "rugged cowboy" look, for an twenty something man, may seem worth the damage it does to your skin, once you hit your thirties it is all downhill. Your skin will eventually turn into a face full of deep creases. Men also get acne, which can continue well into adulthood and early retirement ages, from oily skin.
This is one area women have it all over men. They are more likely to use moisturizers, lotions, and cleansers, which reduce wrinkles and other signs of aging as well as put back much-needed vitamins and moisture in the skin. Oils, especially avocado oil, reverse the effects of the environment to the skin.
People with dry skin should use a moisturizer twice a day: once in the morning and once in the evening. This adds vitamins to your skin and helps heal the skin cells so they will not be so rough over time.
People with oily skin should use an oil-free cleanser and an exfoliator in the morning and just the cleanser at night. This clears away the natural oils your skin produces and helps clear clogged pores.
Most men shave every day. Most shaving creams are full of chemicals to lather and foam, all of which dry the skin. Then a sharp razor is dragged across the skin removing layers of skin cells and hair. If you are like me you use a blade with four or five edges making sure the skin is well and truly tortured.
It takes time to really know how a skin care product is working for you, so keep with it until you know how it works. Some things that work for one person do not work for someone else, but with all the products on the market there is something that will work for you.
- Men suffer from sensitive skin more than women. Shaving using soap or traditional shaving creams can exacerbate this. In particular the process of shaving can bring out rashes and irritate acne
- Men tend to ‘tough it out' and use poor skin as a ‘badge of honour’. A skin care regime might appear to be a metro sexual
- Avado Sensitives organic cleanser can be used as a shaving gel which would means you are shaving and cleansing at the same time (2 in 1 product)
- Avocado oil helps keep skin well moisturised after shaving without leaving a greasy feel and only needs to be used in small amounts. With its antibacterial properties it is great for shaving rash.
- Products using only organic and natural ingredients are very gentle on the skin
- Avado products do not contain toxic chemicals, harsh surfactants and artificial fragrances that can irritate the skin
- the essential oils Avado use to fragrance products are designed for use by men and women ( do not have flowery smell)
